ICN 2021 Congress Abu Dhabi: Call for Abstracts
The International Council of Nurses (ICN) announced the opening of online abstract submission for the ICN 2021 Congress and Exhibition in Abu Dhabi, UAE today. With the theme, Nursing the World Together, the Congress will take place 5-9 June 2021. The on-line submission system will be open from 1 June to 31 July 2020.
Instructions for the submission of abstracts and details on the themes to be addressed can be accessed at www.icncongress2021.org. ICN invites nurses and others around the world to share their ideas, research, and expertise by submitting abstracts for the scientific programme. The deadline for abstract submission is 31 July 2020.
Abstracts can be submitted under the following themes:
- Nursing Leadership
- Epidemics and Pandemics: Nurses’ Experiences, Responses, and Policy Recommendations
- Nursing Regulation and Education
- Quality and Safety
- Nursing Care and Advanced Practice Nursing
- Nursing Workforce
- Global Health Challenges
- Digital Health and Innovation

2020 is the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife and, as such, is a time to celebrate the work of nurses and midwives internationally, highlight the challenging conditions they often face, and advocate for increased investments in the nursing and midwifery workforce. While the world is focusing on the global pandemic COVID-19, the importance of the nursing workforce in this time of need cannot be overstated. Nurses are at the centre of efforts to prevent, contain and manage this health emergency.
Hosted by the Emirates Nursing Association, ICN 2021 will bring together thousands of nurses from across the globe and will build on the vital contribution of nurses in the battle for health and well-being across the entire world. The Congress will provide opportunities for nurses to build relationships and to disseminate nursing knowledge and leadership across specialties, cultures, and countries. The Council of National Nursing Association Representatives, ICN’s global governing body, will also convene in Abu Dhabi, just prior to the Congress, 2-5 June 2021. Congress participants who are members of ICN member associations will be able to observe global nursing leaders, identify the profession’s priorities and future directions.

- October 2020 - Applicants notified of acceptance
- 12 February 2021 - Deadline for registration of abstract presenters
- 12 February 2021 - Early bird registration deadlines ends
- 5 June 2021 - ICN 2021 opens
