The International Council of Nurses (ICN) is pleased to welcome the Nurses’ Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (NASVG) as its newest National Nursing Association member, further strengthening the global voice of nursing and expanding ICN’s representation of nurses worldwide.

The admission of NASVG marks an important milestone for nurses in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and reflects the association’s commitment to advancing the nursing profession, supporting professional development, and promoting high standards of care.

NASVG represents the professional voice of nurses in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and plays an important role in supporting nurses’ leadership, continuing education, workforce development, and professional excellence. Its membership in ICN strengthens the collective voice of nurses at a time when health systems around the world are facing increasing pressures and when nursing leadership is essential to delivering safe, equitable, and high-quality care.

ICN President José Luis Cobos Serrano welcomed NASVG to the global ICN family.

“We are delighted to welcome the Nurses’ Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to ICN. Nurses are often the health professionals closest to the people and communities they serve, and nowhere is that more evident than in small island states where nurses play such a central role across the continuum of care. NASVG brings valuable experience, leadership, and perspective to our global network, and we look forward to strengthening our collaboration in support of nursing in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, across the Caribbean, and beyond.”

President of NASVG, Shelly-Ann Alexander-Ross, said:

“Joining the ICN represents a historic milestone for nursing in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Our nurses are at the heart of the health system, promoting access to care, health education, and community well-being. Membership in ICN allows us to contribute to global nursing discussions, learn from international best practices, and strengthen our capacity to lead and innovate within our own health system.”

NASVG is dedicated to supporting its members through professional development, continuing education, workforce strengthening, and advocacy for safe and high-quality care. Through its work, the association contributes to the development of a strong nursing workforce and to the recognition of nurses as essential leaders in health.

The admission of NASVG further reinforces ICN’s mission to ensure that nursing perspectives are represented in health policy and decision-making at national, regional, and global levels.

ICN looks forward to working closely with NASVG to advance nursing leadership, professional development, workforce empowerment, patient safety, and the wellbeing of nurses in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, across the Caribbean region, and around the world.
