International Council of Nurses reopens Call for Abstracts for ICN 2021 Congress
The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has announced the reopening of online abstract submissions for the ICN Congress 2021. With the theme, Nursing Around the World, the Congress will take place virtually on 2-4 November 2021. The online submission system will be open from 15 January to 11 March 2021.
Instructions for the submission of abstracts and details on the themes to be addressed can be accessed at www.icncongress2021.org. ICN invites nurses and others around the world to share their ideas, research, and expertise by submitting abstracts for the scientific programme. The deadline for abstract submission is 11 March 2021. Abstracts that were submitted previously do not need to be resubmitted, but there is the option for individuals to edit previously submitted papers, as well as submit new abstracts.
Abstracts can be submitted under the following themes:
- Nursing Leadership
- Epidemics and Pandemics: Nurses’ Experiences, Responses, and Policy Recommendations
- Nursing Regulation and Education
- Quality and Safety
- Nursing Care and Advanced Practice Nursing
- Nursing Workforce
- Global Health Challenges
- Digital Health and Innovation
Please see the Call for Abstracts or further details. 2020 was the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, a time when we had hoped to celebrate the work of nurses and midwives internationally, highlight the challenging conditions they often face, and advocate for increased investments in the nursing and midwifery workforce. The arrival of the global COVID-19 pandemic emphasised even more than our planned celebrations could have, the importance of the nursing workforce in this time of need. Nurses have been and continue to be at the centre of efforts to prevent, contain and manage this health emergency.
In partnership with the Emirates Nursing Association, ICN 2021 will bring together thousands of nurses from across the globe in a virtual event and will build on the vital contribution of nurses in the battle for health and well-being across the entire world. Despite the lack of face-to-face contact, the Congress will provide opportunities for nurses to build relationships and to disseminate nursing knowledge and leadership across specialties, cultures, and countries.

- May 2021 - Applicants notified of acceptance
- 9 June 2021 - Deadline for registration of abstract presenters
- 9 June 2021 - Early bird registration deadline ends
