Federal Council of Nursing (Cofen)

The Federal Nursing Council (Cofen) is the public entity responsible for regulating, overseeing, and disciplining the practice of nursing in Brazil. It works in conjunction with the Regional Nursing Councils, forming the Cofen/Regional Councils System.

Its organizational structure comprises a board of directors, a plenary of advisors, and technical and administrative areas responsible for strategic actions, human resource management, communication, and institutional support.

Cofen also promotes policies for professional development, continuing education, and workplace safety, contributing to the quality of nursing care and the protection of society.
