Through collaboration, knowledge exchange, mentorship, and shared leadership, GNLI Alumni continue to build on the relationships and skills developed during the programme, contributing to ICN's mission of empowering nurses to drive positive change at national, regional, and global levels.
As of 2026, the Network is composed of 500+ nurse leaders.
About the GNLI Alumni Council
The GNLI Alumni Council is the elected leadership body of the GNLI Alumni Network and serves as the primary link between the Alumni community and the International Council of Nurses. The Council is composed of two representatives from each WHO region (AFRO, AMRO, EMRO, EURO, SEARO, and WPRO), who serve two-year terms and are led by an Alumni-elected Chair and Vice-Chair. Supported and overseen by ICN, the Council meets three times per year and leads the planning of the annual GNLI Alumni Conference.

The Council provides strategic leadership by advising ICN on policy priorities and alumni-led initiatives, while representing the interests of the global alumni community. It works to strengthen alumni engagement and connectivity, promote leadership development and mentorship, and foster cross-regional collaboration and knowledge exchange. Guided by its vision of a united global network of GNLI-trained nurse leaders driving policy impact and advancing health equity worldwide, the Council's mission is to connect, mentor, and mobilize alumni in support of ICN's goals of impact, empowerment, innovation, and leadership, while preserving GNLI's legacy of policy influence and leadership excellence.
