Secretary of the Indian Nursing Council under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

Col (Dr) Sarvjeet Kaur was a student of Class of 2019 of GNLI and has been a Co facilitator for SEARO region for GNLI since 2020 after having undergone the co facilitator programme. She has a rich academic and clinical experience of 15 years and administrative experience of around 13 years of working in various capacities in many Tertiary care Hospitals across India, educational Institutes under different Universities and Military headquarters in Delhi. She is a recognized postgraduate and undergraduate teacher in Nursing. 

As Secretary, Indian Nursing Council she has implemented revised competency-based B.Sc.(N) syllabus in India along with preparing Ten (10) Nurse Practitioner Program and launching of Doctorate of Nursing Practice in the Country. She has helped upgrade Diploma to BSc program and Schools of Nursing to College of Nursing, prepared new course curriculum and worked with national authorities. As a regulator she has worked actively in formulation and implementation of various Governmental policies for nursing education and development like improving nursing competencies through ongoing education, implementation of practitioner roles for nurses in India, inclusion of residency programs, nursing safety issues during Covid, facilitating national midwifery initiative with NGOs and other stakeholders and creation of national nursing workforce account portal. 

Her professional passion is working in the public health setup to strengthen maternal and child health care, her key interest areas are providing home based preventive promotive care.
