World Council of Enterostomal Therapists® (WCET®)

WCET

The World Council of Enterostomal Therapists® (WCET®) is a not-for-profit organization, registered as a UK Charity, founded in May 1978 by an ostomate, Norma N. Gill.

With the support of her surgeon Dr. Rupert Turnbull and industry partners, she built the foundations of Stomatherapy at the Cleveland Clinic, USA. Sharing her passion with the rest of the world, she became the first WCET® President and Journal Editor.

Stoma Therapy quickly became a nursing specialization, which extended to wound and continence care.

Mission

To promote our tri specialty so, worldwide, patients can benefit from those care and nurses can access to specialised education. The association gathers international healthcare professionals, mostly nurses, and others who have an interest in our tri specialty.
