ICNP® Collaborations Mapping Health Terminologies
Mapping Health Terminologies

Mapping Health Terminologies

International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (WHO ICF)

The ICF is a classification of health and health-related domains. These domains are classified from body, individual and societal perspectives by means of two lists: a list of body functions and structure, and a list of domains of activity and participation. Since an individual’s functioning and disability occurs in a context, the ICF also includes a list of environmental factors.

ICN is developing, in coordination with the WHO FIC Collaborating Center of the Netherlands, a pilot project for mapping ICNP® and ICF.

Nursing Terminologies

ICNP® represents nursing work and client outcomes. ICNP® is a unified nursing language system that facilitates the development and cross-mapping of local nursing terms and existing terminologies.

The American Nurses Association recognized seven nursing terminologies.
