Attendance at the GNLI is by application and selection.
Applicants need to meet the required criteria and demonstrate the capacity, motivation and vision to undertake senior leadership development. A high level GNLI Advisory Committee invites applications annually, some ten months before the annual GNLI in September.
ICN takes the opportunity to contextualise the GNLI annually by focusing on a contemporary theme in the context of global health.
The 2014 GNLI theme is “Governance and Management”. In the context of global governance and management issues, nurse leaders need to develop knowledge, and competencies that focus on professional and self-regulation. They also need to learn how to deal with increasingly complex ethical challenges and to develop skills to understand institutional governance and management in the context of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the United Nations, and other strategic partners.
