ICN in partnership with the Burdett Trust for Nursing offers an advanced leadership programme for nurses and/or midwives at senior level and executive positions in developed and developing countries across the world.
The 2014 ICN-Burdett GNLI theme is “Governance and Management”.In the context of global governance and management issues, nurse leaders need to develop knowledge, and competencies that focus on professional and self-regulation. They also need to learn how to deal with increasingly complex ethical challenges and to develop skills to understand institutional governance and management in the context of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the United Nations and other strategic partners.
The Burdett Trust for Nursing has supported the GNLI since 2011. The Burdett Trust for Nursing is an independent charitable trust named after Sir Henry Burdett KCB, the founder of the Royal National Pension Fund for Nurses (RNPFN) in the United Kingdom. The Trust was set up in recognition of the foundation philosophy and structure of the RNPFN. Working in collaboration with their funding partners the Trustees aim to make grants to nurses and other healthcare professionals involved in a wide range of innovative projects.
