The fourth Triad meeting of the International Council of Nurses, the World Health Organization and the International Confederation of Midwives was held on 18-19 May 2012. Participants included government chief nursing and midwifery officers, representatives of national nursing and midwifery associations and nursing and midwifery regulatory bodies. Topics covered included nurses and midwives contribution to the prevention and control of NCDs; nursing and midwifery educational competencies, curriculum and scopes of practice to effectively address NCDs; and nursing and midwifery engagement in policy setting and health system strengthening.
