Composition of New Core Steering Group 2011-2013

Chair: Carylin M. Holsey

Greetings fellow nursing students! I live in Pearland, Texas USA. Pearland is just outside the borders of Houston!  My passion and purpose are directly aimed to reduce health disparities on an international canvas especially the underserved and vulnerable populations. I lead and participate in international medical missions and create opportunities and awareness about the global concerns. I am both excited and motivated to seek and share the nursing student perspective regarding topics such as education, diversity and the future of nursing. I have had the pleasure and the benefit of being elected to serve on the Board of Directors of NSNA for two consecutive years culminating as the President 2010/2011, and want to share the experiences, information and leadership skills gathered with the global nursing student community and the nursing community at large. My heartfelt task as a part of this committee is to reach and empower nursing students and beyond the traditional classroom about the future of nursing using available information, tools, partnerships, conversations and interventions that impact the nursing community and the people we will care for. Additionally, creating an international platform for best practice and information sharing among nursing students is the premiere purpose of my participation in the Core Group. Increasing cultural awareness, participation in professional organizations after program completion and fostering lifelong learning & leadership continuity coupled with personal growth is key to all of us entering the ultimate career of a lifetime – Nursing!. Let's grow this network together!
