Regulatory Body

Registration for health professionals in general and particularly for nursing does not yet exist. Nurses and midwives are allowed to practice for life without official requirements for updating their knowledge and skills.
The Government (Ministry of Health) is responsible for issuing regulations, duties and scope of nursing and midwifery practice.

Vietnam has a successful primary health care model of health service delivery. It has 9806 commune health centres and more than 600 district hospitals, a large supply of health workers and well organized national public health programmes, such as the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).
