  • Regulatory Body
    The Health Practitioners Registration Board is an Umbrella body under the auspices of the Ministry for Health covering doctors, nurses, midwives and dentists. The Board was established to regulate the practice of health practitioners and to provide for their registration. In 2005 there were 72 nurses registered with the health practitioners Registration Board.
  • Health System
    Health care is provided free to all of Nauru’s population and those on government contracts. There are no private practices. There is a referral system by which patients may be referred overseas for urgent treatment which is not readily available on Nauru.  Overseas consultants visit Nauru for consultations.
