GCEF 28-30 May 2013

GCEF “has made a profound impact as far as changing the game.  In sub-Saharan Africa, you would expect one in four girls to be pregnant in their teens; in this cohort it is less than one in a 100.  In sub-Saharan Africa, you would also expect only 5% to go into further education; in this cohort it is 35%.  It is making a profound difference and it is by working internationally to mobilise funds but working with our local members to identify and support those individual girls that makes a difference.   David Benton, ICN CEO, speaking at the third Women Deliver global conference, 28-30 May 2013,  Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I absolutely commend to you the Girl Child project.  It is one that my own company, Pfizer, has sponsored for a very long time and I think you can see the results that it has: giving girls the aspiration to have further education, secondary education, tertiary education and to go on to have careers. I think that that is the single most impressive thing that has been achieved.”  Jack Watter s , Vice President of External Medical Affairs, Pfizer Inc. , speaking at the third Women Deliver global conference, 28-30 May 2013,  Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
