CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: Deadline is September 18th, 2015!
The Quality and Safety Summit – Leveraging Nursing Leadership is hosted by the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing University of Toronto; with funding support from the St. Michael’s Hospital Volunteer Association Chair in Nursing Research. Health care organizations have increasingly implemented quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to achieve higher levels of quality care delivery. Nurse leaders have an integral role in fostering a culture of accountability that engages point of care managers and nurses in achieving success in healthcare outcomes and patient safety. Nurse leaders are strategically positioned to ensure data is being used to inform decisions about care delivery and implement strategies aimed at achieving quality and safety outcomes. However, variation exists globally in how nurse leaders are able to influence quality improvement and patient safety within their organizations and at a system wide level. The aims of this summit are to identify the state of science in quality improvement and patient safety and leverage nursing’s contribution to quality improvement and patient safety globally.
