The Third Global Forum on Human Resources for Health in Recife hosted by the Global Health Workforce Alliance, PAHO and the government of Brazil just ended November 13. The Forum had over 2000 in attendance representing 93 countries and the elicited over 70 commitments from countries and organizations each aimed at growing a competent, available global health workforce.
The theme of the Forum focused on the health workforce and the pledge of UN member states to guarantee Universal Health Coverage to their populations: that all persons have access to the quality care they need without suffering financial hardship.
Links to landmark documents released during the Forum can be found at http://www.who.int/workforcealliance/en/meeting.
There are so many implications regarding how we should prepare our students for the challenges of global health.
