Maria Nubia earned her basic nursing credentials from Colombian National University and her Masters degree in Public Health at the Antioquia University in Colombia. Currently, she is matriculating at the University of Alicante School of Nursing in Alicante Spain for her PhD.
Romero Ballen is the recipient of many awards recognizing her research skills and has over 34 publications. Her major research focus is on Care in the Cultural Diversity Framework with a particular emphasis on women’s health..
Along with her roles as teacher, author, researcher, Romero Ballen has held prestigious leadership positions including Founder and Coordinator of Gercus, “Exclusiona and Resistances in Health Care Research Group” and President of Acofaen, Colombian Nursing Care University’s School Association Among her many professional organizations is membership in Sigma Theta Tau International, the New York University’s Upsilon Chapter.
