The dementia conference is the inaugural conference in the International Conference and Publications Series on Person Centered Healthcare, a major initiative of the International College for Person Centered Medicine, a global body of distinguished clinicians and scientists working in collaboration with WHO, the World Medical Association, the World Organization of Family Doctors (Wonca), the International Federation for Medical Education, the International Alliance of Patients Organisations and a wide variety of other global clinical societies and associations.
The dementia conference is the first in the new Series and has been designed with reference to WHO imperatives for the development of personalised clinical services worldwide and in accordance with the provisions of the 2012 Geneva Declaration on Person-centered Care for Chronic Diseases. The conference will bring together leading colleagues working in all areas of dementia care internationally to establish a pathway for the construction of dementia care and services by building upon current work by the international community in the dementia field and enhancing this through the direct application of the principles of person-centeredness. Here, a rapidly growing body of hard empirical data as well as qualitative evidence is demonstrating the ability of this approach to decrease healthcare resource utilization overall, while increasing patient and clinician satisfaction with the processes and outcomes of care
