[Excerpt from publisher]Nurses have always sought and will continue to seek professional development opportunities. Beginning with their nursing education and then through continuing and further education, such as specialisation, nurses look for stimulating learning experiences (both theoretical and practical). The application of newly acquired knowledge, skills and behaviours then becomes a personal goal. With these guidelines, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) aims to:Highlight potential advantages and perils of career moves and migration for nurses.Describe some of the main nurse migration trends.Establish a list of critical questions for consideration before accepting a new position.
