FOCUS ON AN ICN PROJECT
ICN Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nursing Network
The 8th ICN INP/APNN Conference will be hosted by the Finnish Nurses Association and will take place in Helsinki, Finland, 18-20 August 2014. The Helsinki conference aims to highlight the role of advanced practice nurses in promoting health care access and achieving intended outcomes. The focus will be on the impact of APN roles on patient and health care outcomes, also on the society and global levels. Questions related to patients’ equality, advanced career possibilities, evidence based practices, and prerequisites for practice will be of interest.
Launched in 2000 at the 8th International Conference of Nurse Practitioners in San Diego, Ca., USA, the ICN NP/APN Network serves as a forum for exchange of knowledge, as a resource base for the development of advanced practice/nurse practitioner roles and the appropriate educational underpinning; and as a vehicle for ICN to harness specialist expertise. The Network helps ICN more effectively meet its mandate as the global voice of the profession, provides a mechanism to promote and disseminate information from any of the network members and ICN, and acts as the base for future international collaboration around advanced practice and the nurse practitioner role.
